How to join

Joining a Masonic Lodge is simpler than you might think. There is no single right path, but most candidates follow these steps:

1. Get in touch. Write to the Secretary at the address on the Contact page, or use the form below. There is no obligation at this stage.
2. Meet the Mentor. We will arrange a relaxed conversation, usually over coffee, to answer your questions and explain what membership involves.
3. Visit the Lodge socially. You will be invited to the Festive Board following a meeting, to meet the brethren in an informal setting.
4. Formal proposal. When both you and we are satisfied, your name is proposed at a regular meeting and (after a ballot) you are invited to be initiated.
5. Initiation. Your first ceremony. You will be supported throughout by your Mentor, the Director of Ceremonies, and the brethren.

Visiting Brethren

Visiting brethren from other Lodges are warmly welcomed. Please write to the Secretary in advance so we can extend the proper hospitality and ensure a place at the Festive Board. Bring your Grand Lodge certificate.

Mentor scheme

Every new candidate is paired with a Mentor: an experienced brother whose job is to help you understand the ceremonies, the symbolism, and the practical workings of the Lodge. You are never expected to find your own way.
